Dear Parents/Guardians/Faculty/Staff,

As the 2017-18 school year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on how much the SEPTA Organization has benefited and provided for the students of the South River School District.

Here are some statistics on the amount of students that have been directly impacted & benefited from SEPTA:

Approximately 750 2nd Graders in the South River Primary School have participated in the Kids on the Block Puppet Assemblies over the last 10 years.

This learning-through-entertainment program helps children understand cognitive and physical disabilities through our unique puppet program. Topics covered can include: blindness, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, learning disabilities, the issues associated with being the sibling of someone with a disability, and teasing.

SEPTA Scholarship Recipients – from 2014-2017 12 students have received $1,700.00 combined.

SEPTA has proudly provided scholarships to graduating seniors of the South River High School.

Thank you very much for those who have contributed over the years.  The Special Education PTA Facebook Page has been converted to a Resource/Information Page.    Hopefully we will still be able to provide some impact to the parents/guardians of the students of South River, NJ.

Sincerely,

Danielle Oswald, President

On behalf of the board of SEPTA of South River

Important Information about SEPTA & Thank You

January 9, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians/Faculty/Staff,

Happy New Year 2018!

Another year has come and gone.  The time is flying by faster and faster with each passing year. With that realization, some changes are in order.

Over 7 years ago, I began volunteering with the Special Education PTA of South River.  As one of the few parents who showed up for meetings – I was invited to take over as SEPTA President.  I have committed myself to the PTA for the entire time, however the time has come for me to resign from this role, effective the end of the 2017-2018 school year.    As a result of limited participation and some administrative obstacles….SEPTA will no longer exist as of June 30, 2018.

Thank you very much for those who have contributed over the years.  I’m quite sure that we will be converting the Special Education PTA Facebook Page to a Resource/Information Page.  Effective immediately, we will no longer have meetings.

SEPTA will provide a Senior Scholarship for the final year, however we will not be able to fund the “Kids on the Block Assembly” that we have been able to fund for the past 10 years.

This was a VERY difficult decision for myself and our Board to make and I will cherish the memories of my time volunteering for the Awareness of all our Students.

Sincerely,

Danielle Oswald, President
